Fontawesome not working in HTML tour template

I have followed the instructions of how to insert icons from FontAwesome however this does not work. I have looked at the css and I think it might have something to do with it referring to an old version of it - 4.4.0 whilst the latest version on their website is 6.0. What do I need to change to get this working? I am using the HTML template not the WordPress one.

Hello, we are updating the theme and in next version we will update FontAwesome to latest version as well. For you, you can continue with the version shipped with the theme. You can find the vversions here: Font Awesome

I looked at this before I contacted you and it still doesn’t work. It’s very hit and miss as to which icon show. I guess I’ll wait for the updated theme.

Could you also tell me how to remove the grey overlay from the banner images.
