Hi!
When I add more than three .menu-grid-item items to my main nav, it breaks the whole nav by throwing menu items out of the main unordered list. Please let me know what I’m doing wrong!

It appears your activities type menu is missing a class. Please follow this post Activities / Destination Type menu
If you still have any difficulty, you can along with your wp-admin access and we will look into it for you.
