When I try to import the default demo, it does import some data as media, but no pages, posts etc. and I get the following error:
[WARNING] This WXR file (version 1.2) is newer than the importer (version 1,2) and may not be supported. Please consider updating.
The demo import has finished, but there were some import errors.
